Today was a holiday. I spent it with my grandmother, who was being interviewed by NPR for being a total badass since 1932.
Now it’s evening and it’s still technically a holiday but we also have to work in the morning. So what to do? Here are some suggestions:
Binge a show you’ve been meaning to get to.
I recommend Poker Face (Peacock) or The Last of Us (HBOMax) if you want to be able to talk to your coworkers at the proverbial water cooler, South Park (HBOMax) if you forgot how good South Park is, or Cunk on Earth (Netflix) if you want some hilariously accurate satire.
Catch up on Oscar nominees.
Most of them are streaming, including must-sees Tar (Peacock) and Everything Everywhere All At Once (Showtime).
Look up self care hacks on TikTok and choose one new thing to try.
Maybe you want to grow out your hair, wear more red lipstick, or become a boss on power point.
Meal prep.
So you eat healthy for the next four days to make up for your long weekend Cheez-It binge (I refuse to believe it was just me).
Text three people you haven’t spoken to in a long time.
Chances are, they’re sitting at home too.
Whatever you do, have fun and stay up late. Our next holiday won’t come around for a while.
