Remember how in 2020 we were like well at least next year will be better and then in 2021 we were like holding out hope for 2022! and then in 2022 we were like oh hey there’s no baby formula and California will be out of water in five days and also fentanyl is killing a shocking number of the unhoused and we’re about to lose Roe and nobody cares about the election because what’s the point of voting for Democrats anyways? So yeah, 2023 we’re looking at you.
Not everything about this year has been bad though. Severance is without a doubt one of the best television shows ever made, the Spice Girls were on The Circle, and Lyle Lovett just came out with a new album.
Then again, I was redistricted out of Maxine Waters’ district which is DEVASTATING, but they moved me to Ted Lieu which isn’t a total disaster. And Spread The Vote celebrated our 5th anniversary last weekend which feels like a miracle.
So there are ups and downs.
And questions.
For one, what do you feed a baby if you don’t have formula? Lobster? Tacos? Lobster tacos? I would like babies more if they ate tacos.
For two, why haven’t we droned all of Putin’s palaces by now? I feel like that’s an easy call?
Three, and this is a big one, will the new Game of Thrones spinoff be any good? Sigh, just kidding, we know it won’t.
Honestly, if the last few years have taught us anything, it’s the message in Everything Everywhere All At Once. Which I won’t tell you, because you really need to experience it for yourself.
Here’s hoping you spend this weekend doing things that make you happy, even if being productive and crossing things off of your to do list make you happy. End the Type A shaming!
Today’s read:watch:listen is to re-enjoy something that makes you feel comforted and happy like The Office or The Shining or The Complete Works of Lyle Lovett. We all need a bit of a break.
