Greetings old friends! It’s been so long. Did you miss me? Have you changed? Has life been kind? I was on one of the all time greatest vacations. Europe! For a month! At the tail end of a pandemic! It was glorious. A full month of universal healthcare, efficient public transportation, centuries old architecture, and food that isn’t actively poisoning us. It was like being in a utopian fairyland. Why, we kept asking, don’t we live here?
Upon my return I immediately wanted to go back. The Democrats went from do nothing to do nothinger, apparently people now don’t want to vaccinate their children which… boggles the mind, and there is somehow not a pastry shop on every corner. We’re doing everything wrong.
In good news, I finally watched Succession and IT IS THE BEST SHOW EVER. I’m sorry I ever doubted it. It’s all I want to talk about now. Please ping me. Let’s talk about how much we hate Kendall.
And now it is winter. Midterms began this morning. The holidays are arriving fast. We somehow have been in this pandemic for two years and are entering 2022. I spent my birthday (in Venice!) self reflecting as usual, thinking about who I want to be and what I want to do next year and in the future. This has been a heavy time but we are finally heading into the light. Last night Gucci held a runway show on Hollywood Boulevard. The clothes were full of bright colors, big jewels, big hats, and lots of sequins and flare. It felt like a celebration of the future, like maybe the Gatsby summer that we thought we were having this year will actually happen next. I had an amazing Year of George this year, and next year will be full of the hard work of a major election, but I am so incredibly grateful that, even if we have to wear masks, we get to go back out into the world again.
Watch:
Succession (HBO)- What are you waiting for?
The Problem With Jon Stewart (Apple TV)- He comes out swinging and doesn’t stop. Jon Stewart is not here to make friends.
The Grand Tour: Lochdown (Prime)- By now you know how much I love Jeremy Clarkson and the boys. Their continued adventures get more ridiculous as they get older and I continue to be incredibly jealous.
Listen:
Harry Potter (Audiobooks): I listened to these on my many flights and train trips last month and it really is so fun hearing the stories that I know so incredibly well at this point. If you’re abroad you apparently get Stephen Fry which is deeply unfair but whoever is reading the stories you can’t lose, it is Harry P. after all.
The Just Enough Family (Podcast): Liz Lange- she who changed maternity fashion forever- actually comes from a really fascinating family that was once one of the wealthiest in the country before it all came crashing down. In this podcast, Liz and her family give incredibly candid interviews about the saga that is not so far from Succession.
Elvis With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra- YOU GUYS. The Royal Phil does a whole album of Elvis songs! Also one with Johnny Cash! It’s so fun. I can’t get enough.

This is a horrible story about how little New York Public Housing cares about the lives of seniors. Or anyone.
Scammers are everywhere, but in the case of adoptions, is the whole thing a scam? After you watch this listen to the podcast episodes on The Opportunist.
