I’m in the midst of a Murder, She Wroteathon because Jessica Fletcher is my favorite serial killer and I’m learning a lot. Jess, along with being a masterful manipulator, the most successful serial killer of all time, and a snazzy dresser, is very good with people. She is constantly having to deal with people she doesn’t like- murderers, men, liars, con men, fools- and she handles it with a grace and deftness that I can only dream of possessing in my later years.
Jess is completely without ego and is happy to allow people to talk down to her, insult her, bore her, and lie to her if it will help her reach her ultimate goal: finding a scapegoat for the murder that she obviously committed. I feel that watching countless episodes of MSW is critical to reaching the next step in the ladder towards becoming more like LeVar Burton- the ultimate goal.
In other news, I did my first ever portrait session the other day and it was incredibly fun and weird to be around people, and I think they came out ok! Yaay me!
My friend Rebecca runs an organization called We Are AAPI. They are selling shirts to support 18 Million Rising. Please buy one. The racists are out here and they are having a fabulous time. They must be stopped.
Another friend of mine (I have at least two friends!) who is also my guru, coach, and Harry Potter dramatic reading partner finally joined the 21st century and has a website. Russ founded Idealist (yes, that Idealist) and is a Roddenberry Fellowship coach and generally brilliant and humble Portland guy. If you are looking for executive coaching, long discussions about YA novels, or connections to people who know stuff about things, Russ is your guy.
Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Krispy Kreme donuts are causing a lot of drama on Twitter and it’s the only reason you should visit the internet today.
Watch
Q: Into The Storm (HBO Max)- This is the Qanon documentary you need in your life. Trust me.
The Lost Pirate Kingdom (Netflix)- I still can’t believe pirates were really a thing.
Detectorists (Acorn TV)- Have we talked about this show? It’s lovely. Very British. Highly recommend.
Listen
The Doodler (Podcast)- You may have seen the recent headlines about a newly rediscovered serial killer. He was known as The Doodler. The story is as horrifying and interesting and sadly predictable as so many others.
The Thing About Pam (Podcast)- I’m listening to this and just screaming SHE DID IT!!!! That is not a spoiler.
Verve Remixed (Spotify)- If you live in LA, pool season is upon you. I played my favorite Verve remix at the pool this weekend and briefly felt like a real person not living in a panasonic.
