I assume you all saw the obscene yet predictable Democratic Party failure on Saturday. I can’t talk about it because I’m trying to reduce stress in my life. But I did officially unregister as a Democrat because who can even any more. Not me. My soul has been blasted into pieces one too many times.
In better news, Rush Limbaugh is dead. So 2021 isn’t all bad. And during Black History Month! We win.
In endorsement news, we have a new one! Irene Shin, good friend and good person, is running for Virginia House of Delegates. Support her. Love her. Give her money.
Last weekend I attended my first Zoom wedding, my first Zoom group pilates class, and my first Zoom birthday music festival. Zoom is the life. I am never putting pants on again.
Madeleine L’Engle wrote the book that changed my little girl life. It opened my eyes to quantum physics, science fiction, fantasy, dystopian storytelling, and really creepy little kids. The fact that she HAD A SECRET FRIENDSHIP WITH A BLACK PANTHER makes me love her even more, which I did not think was possible. Read this. Read A Wrinkle In Time. Let Madeleine L’Engle change your life. It’s never too late.
Yes please.
Watch:
Blown Away (Netflix): It’s a glass blowing competition. What more do you need to know?
Framing Britney Spears (Hulu): As a lifelong Brit Brit fan who was scheduled to visit THE BRITNEY SPEARS EXPERIENCE when the lockdown hit and who once had to suffer through a Nicki Minaj set just to watch the pop princess perform this was an especially difficult thing to watch. But if you’re human it will make you sad too. #FreeBritney and DOWN WITH JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE.
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO): He’s back. Get your life together.
Listen:
Mommy Doomsday (podcast): Oh boy. This podcast… only one episode is out and I am SOLD. A mom became a doomsday prepper and then killed her kids maybe. And maybe some of her ex-husbands. Maybe not. Nobody knows. And also I’ve only heard one episode so far. But this show is incredible and the Dateline guy’s old timey news voice is marvelous. I would listen to him read the phone book. Do they still make phone books?
Britney: The Singles Collection: Don’t resist it. Let Britney into your heart.
Love Story (Taylor’s Version): Because she’s fighting the man and taking control of her music and that’s pretty badass. Well done little Tay Tay. Well done.
Read:
A Wrinkle in Time: It’s worth mentioning twice. Don’t watch the movie unless you like having your childhood ruined.
The Tragedy of Dianne Feinstein (LA Times): Somebody make this woman retire.
This is Texas at its most Texas: Shout out to everyone in Texas dealing with the weather right now. Maybe, I don’t know, vote for better people?
