My brain is muddled today so I am gracing you with the bullet points that keep flashing through my mind.
If anyone is asking, my money is on Elizabeth Holmes getting acquitted and it fills me with so much rage that I can’t write any more about it. We have learned nothing. We will learn nothing. Luckily, this week the Jussie Smollett and Ghislaine Maxwell trials started so I can focus some of my legal energy on those cases. So much grifting! So much crimes! So much much! This is how I use my law degree. Also SCOTUS is about to overturn Roe v. Wade so… yeah.
In other news about people who belong in jail, google Alice Sebold, and marvel at how much nothing has changed, and also three cheers to Netflix for continuing to bring about justice and world peace.
Sweden had some drama last week. First they had their first female Prime Minister. Then they didn’t. Then they did again. And that, children, is why the Parliamentary system is no way to run a country. But it is a lot of fun. I would recommend watching British House of Cards and then immediately following it up with American House of Cards but Kevin Spacey is a tool so now we can only watch the last season of AHoC. Men ruin everything.
Speaking of men ruining everything, Apple TV+ has two documentaries airing right now about two of the worst men who ever lived, in very different ways. The only similarities between ‘Twas The Fight Before Christmas and The Line is that they are both about monstrous white men who believe that they can do no wrong and everyone who disagrees with them is a terrorist. But here’s what I don’t understand- WHY DO THEY BOTH HAVE WIVES??? How are there women out here staying married to these men??? I don’t even understand how a woman can bear to do some man’s LAUNDRY, which sounds like domestic abuse to me, but these women are out here caping for total monsters who are ruining their lives. Girl, you can get a job. You will be okay. GET OUT. I can’t decide if I want to slap them or rescue them or both. I. do. not. understand.
I hope you had a good Thanksgiving, which is a great holiday if you enjoy food and not working. Now that the Omega Zeus variant has arrived let’s cross our fingers for another lockdown just in time to learn how to bake pies.
Watch:
Jagged (HBO Max)- I have loved and adored Alanis Morisette since I was 11 and I do not understand why she doesn’t like this documentary, it’s wonderful and makes her look like the goddess she is so I kind of feel guilty for watching but also kind of don’t. Also I did not know she was a Canadian teen pop star and now I love her even more.
Schmigadoon (Apple TV+)- A musical parody which includes the line “Where do babies come out? I can only think of two options but they both seem crazy”. Which is exactly correct.
Domina (Epix)- Roku had an Epix Black Friday sale and boy am I glad because they have the best Charles Manson docuseries that I have ever seen and this show Domina which is fantastic. Dare I say that Epix is worth the monies?
Listen:
The Thing About Helen and Olga (podcast)- Two old ladies give unhoused men homes and food. Sounds innocent, right? NOT ACCORDING TO KEITH MORRISON.
The Tik Tik… Boom Soundtrack (Spotify)- Ok this is a cheat because I wanted to add this to WATCH but already had three. But once you watch the movie (Netflix), you’ll want to listen to the soundtrack. And if, like me, you are thinking of avoiding this movie because LMM is annoying, don’t worry, this musical was written by the brilliant god that was Jonathan Larson so you know it’s good.
Real Dictators (Spotify)- It’s back for a new season with Idi Amin! I love this podcast, I will probably recommend it a hundred times.
