This weekend, I’m hanging at the movies, eating an unreasonable amount of chocolate, and probably going outside because SUMMER IS HERE (if you live in Arizona, anyways). Whether you’re looking to hole up inside with a frozen pizza and a few seasons of your favorite show or if you want to get out and do something that makes you feel like a real person, see below for some brilliant suggestions.
Go to the movies (but first have a last minute Star Wars party)
Revenge of the Sith is back on the big screen for its 10th anniversary, and yes, I will be there dramatically whispering “You were my brother, Anakin” to no one in particular.
But if you’re going to do it, do it right.
Start with Rogue One, then hit Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge. Invite friends over, dim the lights, make a Star Wars trivia card or two, and serve:
Snack: Wookiee Cookies (classic chocolate chip, but chewy and oversized)
Drink: Blue milk white Russians (vodka, cream, and blue curaçao—I found this on the internet, blue food creeps me out but it’s worth a try)
Moar Movies
Shockingly, there are three new flicks worth checking out if you’re in a “don’t talk to me, I’m at the theater all weekend” kind of mood:
The Amateur (Rami in an espionage thriller? Yes please!)
The Accountant 2 (Ben Affleck doing math!)
Drop (The trailer looks really good and actually original, shock!)
You, me, and Joe Goldberg
The final season of You is on Netflix so get all of our Joe scrumptiousness in now starting with season 1. If you live in LA you have to get your binge snacks at Erewhon. Also read the books they’re really good!
Dessert mission: mousse edition
I just had a chocolate mousse in Charlottesville that fully changed my life and now I’m on a quest to recreate it. I recommend choosing your own dessert holy grail and spending the weekend perfecting it. Whether it's crème brûlée, tiramisu, or the elusive perfectly gooey brownie, now’s your time. Plant an iPad on the kitchen counter and binge Bake Off while you work your baking magic.
Check out your local thrift store
Times are hard but that doesn’t mean we should stop shopping. Now is a great time to check out your local thrift store and see what they have. No lists, just vibes. Our local Goodwill has a 50 cent book section that is particularly dangerous.
Find a walkable neighborhood and do a mini photo walk
I went to a house in the cutest neighborhood in Cville last weekend and it made me think of how lovely it is to traipse around adorable neighborhoods in the spring. Now is a great time to grab your phone or camera, pick a local neighborhood you’ve never explored, and go take some photos. BONUS: bring a friend and take each other’s headshots. I recently took photos of a client around some lovely Santa Monica neighborhoods and we found so many beautiful rose bushes and large trees to pose in front of. And then find some ice cream.

Most importantly, have fun, relax, and connect with someone- whether it’s a friend, a family member, or just yourself.
