The world is a stressful place right now, what with President Musk running amok and Democrats holding up adorable little chalkboards in response. We need a break, we need a lot of breaks, mini breaks, end of week breaks, some may even call them weekends. So, to help you destress and maybe even have some fun, I will start sending suggestions every Friday. Do with them what you will.
See Mickey 17. The new Bong Joon-Ho movie is finally out! And it stars Cedric Diggory! This is a good opportunity to put on some pants, text a friend, and go to the actual movies. Maybe even buy some popcorn in a commemorative tin! Then come back and tell me what you thought!
Binge The Righteous Gemstones. Maybe you don’t want to leave your house. That’s fine, I get it. Luckily for you, the fourth and final season of TRG starts on Sunday, so you can spend the weekend bingeing the first three seasons and ending the night with the first episode of the last season.
Learn to crochet! I am a big Woobles fan, they’re fun little crochet projects with easy to understand videos that you can easily complete in a weekend, perhaps while bingeing an excellent HBO comedy. And you can buy them at Walmart or Michael’s or Prime one today and if you live in a reasonably sized city it should arrive tomorrow!
Buy an address book (I just got this one) and spend the weekend texting your friends and getting their addresses. Then spend future weekends sending your friends unexpected gifts! Maybe even your Woobles!
Go outside! Put on your favorite Broadway musical soundtrack and go on a brisk walk. Don’t have a favorite Broadway soundtrack? I suggest Newsies, Hadestown, Les Miserables, Beetlejuice, Into the Woods (the original, not the movie), or Rent.
Whatever you do, do something that brings you joy, community, or at the very least, snacks.
